Crownland Dragon Knight
Dragon Knights are among the most formidable warriors of the Crownlands. Each is bonded to a dragon and trained to fight from the saddle, engage enemy flyers, break infantry formations, and destroy siege weapons. Even without their dragons, they are elite warriors capable of holding their own against experienced adventurers.
Dragon-Bonded Warrior. The knight has a telepathic bond with its dragon while they are within 1 mile of each other, provided they are on the same plane of existence. They can communicate simple thoughts and emotions through the bond.
Aerial Combatant. While mounted on its bonded dragon, the knight has advantage on checks and saves made to avoid being dismounted. The knight can mount or dismount its dragon by using 5 feet of movement.
Indomitable Resolve (1/Day). When the knight fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Royal Discipline. The knight has advantage on saving throws against being frightened while it can see its bonded dragon or an allied Crownlands officer.
Actions
Multiattack. The knight makes two attacks with its longsword, or two lance attacks while mounted.
Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) slashing damage, or 9 (1d10 + 4) if used with two hands.
Lance. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (1d12 + 4) piercing damage. The knight has disadvantage on attacks with the lance against targets within 5 feet unless mounted.
Shield Bash (Recharge 5–6). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or fall prone.
BONUS ACTION.
Command the Bond. While mounted, the knight directs its dragon to reposition. The dragon can move up to half its flying speed without provoking opportunity attacks from creatures the knight can see. This does not grant the dragon an additional action.
Reactions
Protective Intercept. When a creature the knight can see attacks its bonded dragon while the knight is mounted, the knight imposes disadvantage on that attack by using its shield or weapon to interfere, provided the knight is within reach of the attacker.
