Dragonpact Warden

Dragonpact Warden

Medium, lawful neutral

Dragon Pact Wardens are the sworn lawkeepers of the ancient agreement between dragons and mortal civilizations. Unlike Dragon Knights, who fight for the Crownlands in war, Wardens enforce the Pact itself. They investigate dragon-related crimes, arrest poachers, mediate disputes between settlements and dragons, and punish anyone who threatens the balance between the two.

Actions

Multiattack. The Warden makes two longsword attacks.

Pact Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) slashing damage, or 8 (1d10 + 3) if used with two hands.

Binding Chain (Recharge 5–6). Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 10/20 ft., one Large or smaller creature. Hit: The target is grappled (escape DC 13) by the chain. Until the grapple ends, the target's speed is 0. The chain has no effect on a creature that is too large to restrain with it. The Warden can grapple only one creature with this chain at a time

Order of Detainment (Recharge 6). The Warden chooses one creature it can see within 30 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be unable to take reactions until the end of its next turn. If the target has committed a violation of the Pact, the Warden may issue a clear verbal command such as “Drop your weapon” or “Stand down.” This is not magical compulsion; the target can still choose its actions.

Reactions

Interpose for the Innocent. When a creature within 5 feet of the Warden is hit by an attack, the Warden can use its reaction to reduce the damage by 1d10 + 3, provided it can see the attacker and the target.
